Pomeroy, Parkesburg and Atglen fire services have consolidated into the new Keystone Valley Fire Department.
Members of the Parkesburg, Pomery and Atglen fire companies had been working on the plan with local officials for nearly three years.
The service became operational March 19 out of the station at 329 W. 1st Avenue in Parkesburg.
The name was adopted from the Amtrak train service, Keystone Line, which runs between Philadelphia and Harrisburg and through all of the affected western Chester County communities.
The department is being managed by officers and directors who were elected on April 28th.
Open public meetings begin at 7 p.m. on the third Tuesday of each month at Keystone Valley Fire Department.
With 16 pieces of apparatus and 60 plus members, organizers of the new department hope to provide a better service through increased manpower, decreased duplication of efforts and improved use of the taxpayer dollars.
